A 31-year-old COVID-19 affected person allegedly died by suicide by leaping off the third flooring of a hospital constructing in Tripura on Saturday, the police mentioned.

The person, a resident of Muhuripur village in South Tripura district, was admitted to the state-run Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital on Friday after allegedly consuming poison, they mentioned.

He had examined constructive for COVID-19 through the necessary fast antigen check carried out earlier than his admission to the hospital, authorities of the medical institution mentioned.

The person went to the third flooring of the hospital constructing and jumped off a window early on Saturday. He died on the spot, they mentioned.

“Preliminary investigation means that the person was affected by melancholy and he had twice tried suicide earlier,” officer-in-charge of GB police station, Rakesh Patoari mentioned.
